Ugly Duckling Challenge Quilt Contest

Turn ugly duckling fabrics into a beautiful quilt. 

• 1.       $10 Entry Fee includes: Rules and 4 yards of fabric with 3 unknowns. Quilt must use at least 75% of fabric from kit, one kit only for each quilt.
• 2.       No sharing or trading of fabric among kits or contestants.
• 3.       Minimum finished quilt size 54”x 60” if nothing were pieced. There is no maximum quilt size, you may add additional fabrics and make the quilt as large as desired.
• 4.       Quilt must have a quilt label with contestant name, and date completed, along with up to 3 quilters.
• 5.      A blank 3x5 swatch card showing each fabric in the kit must be attached to front for judging. 
• 6.       Entries of finished quilts returned by Aug. 1^st  2006 for Views Choice and in store awards. 
• Box Elder County Fair Most Beautiful Swan Quilt $50 Gift Card. Gift Card Prizes: In Store - $25, $20 & 15.  
• Each Contestant gets $5 gift card at the fair.

The Ugly Duckling Quilt Challenge began in January 2006. The challenge was to take 4 ugly fabrics and create the most beautiful swan quilts possible.  Each kit began in a bundle, so you could only see one fabric.  Quilts were to be completely finished by the Box Elder County Fair.  If you could finish before August 1st, you could return your quilt for the Viewer’s Choice Awards, judge by those who saw all of the ugly duckling quilts.  Below is a list of the rules for those who want to join for next year. You can join any time during the year.  Last Years Winners were.

2006 Viewer’s Choice Winners are!

Elaine’s 1st Place: Red plaid, green leaf, Irish Chain with hand quilted clover on yellow.

Sandra’s : 2nd Place 4 dark blacks, changed to a beautiful starblock.

Karen Christensen: 3rd Place. Similar 4 blacks above with a chicken print in one, made into a beautiful chicken quilt with black and yellow.  Unfortunately - the picture didn’t work out sorry.
