Simple X Stitch

    • Row 1: Begin with a single crochet in first hole. Single crochet in previous hole, before last single crochet.  This creates the “X”.   ^Skip one hole and SC in next  hole.  SC in previous hole.   Repeat from ^creating “X” stitches all around item.
    • This simple stitch can also be done with ahalf-double crochet for a little more fullness.
    • To End or tie off:  Slip stitch into the beginning or the top corner of the row you began.  Slip stitch again and pull your thread up to loosen about an inch to an inch and a  half.  Cut thread in the center of this stitch (where your hook came out of) and pull tightly.  This will knot your beginning and ending.  Then weave the tail into you last  stitches crocheted.

Fancy X Stitch:

  1. Row 1:  SC in first hole. Chain 3, keeping these on the top of row. Single  crochet in previous hole, (before last single crochet).  This creates the “X”.  ^Chain 1 and skip one hole, SC in next hole, Chain 3, keeping these on the top  of row.   SC in previous hole .  Repeat from ^ creating “X” stitches all around item. SL in first chain three to end and tie off.
    • This stitch is fun and quick.  A 36” receiving blanket and burp can be done in one skein of pearl cotton if you don’t crochet too loosely.
